Gas Hazard Labels

CLASS 2 • GASES

Class 2.1: Flammable Gases

Materials in quantities of 454 kg (1001 lbs) or more that are in the gaseous state at
20 °C (68 °F) and are ignitable at a pressure of 101.3 kPa (14.7 psi)
fall into this class. In addition, regardless of lower limit, gases that are flammable in mixtures with air of
at least 12% at 101.3 kPa are also classified here.

EGEN’s Class 2.1 Flammable Gas labels are produced with a polypropylene face stock and a strong tyre (rubber) adhesive.
With fast‑drying inks and specially formulated adhesives, they won’t fade or peel. Our labels comply with
49 CFR, ICAO, and DOT design and durability standards.

Class 2.2: Non‑flammable, Non‑toxic Gases

This class includes compressed gases, liquefied gases, compressed cryogenic gases, and
oxidizing gases. Non‑flammable, non‑toxic gases have an internal pressure of 280 kPa (40.6 psia) at
20 °C and are not included in Class 2.1 or 2.3.

EGEN’s Class 2.2 labels are made with codeLINE 201 polypropylene material.
Thanks to fast‑drying inks and special adhesives, they won’t fade or peel.

Class 2.3: Toxic Gases

Toxic gases known to be harmful to human health and presenting a health hazard during transport fall into this class.
Gases present at 101.3 kPa pressure at 20 °C or below (boiling point of 20 °C or below at this pressure),
and substances with LC50 > 5000 ml/m³ in animal studies are included.

EGEN’s Class 2.3 Toxic Gas labels use a polypropylene face stock, fast‑drying inks,
and a strong tyre (rubber) adhesive. They won’t fade or peel. With adhesives formulated for use across various climates,
they provide durability when transporting compressed air, fire extinguishers, lighters, natural gas, methane, and other gases.

Adhesive Code: 33 — Hotmelt Rubber Tyre

The hotmelt rubber tyre adhesive is ideal for rough and challenging surfaces thanks to its dense, strong tack.
It delivers high performance especially on rubber goods, tires, low‑surface‑energy substrates, footwear, plastics, wood, and HDPE & PP drums.
It maintains high strength even at low temperatures.
