Barcode Printer Ribbons

Thermal transfer ribbon is a roll of black film used in barcode label printers that use thermal transfer printing. It consists of three layers: a protective layer, a polyethylene film, and a solid ink layer. The solid ink layer is adhered to the polyethylene film. The barcode printer’s thermal head is in contact with the film’s protective layer. The heated thermal head heats the film on the protective layer, liquefying the solid ink and transferring it to the label paper. This is how thermal transfer printing occurs. Ribbons are fundamentally divided into three categories: wax ribbon, wax-resin ribbon, and resin. These ribbons are further categorized according to the barcode printer’s thermal head.
